Dawn States

“I love going outside and being in nature. Being in the woods is a beautiful and special feeling for me. By using reclaimed materials in my art I feel like I am helping to conserve and respect what is special to me.”

Dawn States is an MFA student at Temple University with a focus in dance. They are an artist who seeks to combine nature and elements of myth and magic in their work to draw attention to the wonder that is present in the natural world. They are an avid outdoor enthusiast and believe in spending as much time outside as possible and in preserving habitats. They frame their work in reused frames, use recycled and found materials where possible and hand collect and press the flowers for their work. All of the work they create is inspired by being in nature. Collectively, their work is titled Woodland Rituals.
