Donor Spotlight: Walnut Street Theatre

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 17 million tons of textile waste are generated in the US annually. This accounts for over 5% of the total municipal solid waste generated in our country.

Unfortunately, just 15% of fabric, clothing, and other textiles in America get reused or recycled. Most textile waste ends up in landfills.

Thanks to the theatre, we were able to save over 700 lbs of fabric, textiles, and scenery from the landfill, where they can take up to 200 years to decompose!

The Walnut Street Theatre, founded in 1808, is America’s oldest theatre. It is also the official state theatre of Pennsylvania, and a National Historic Landmark. With nearly 50,000 subscribers annually, it is the most subscribed theatre company in the world.

We extend a big thanks to Walnut Street Theatre for their generous donation and for helping us build a more sustainable future!

Be sure to check out their upcoming programming at walnutstreettheatre.org.
