Our friend Fern Gookin at RAIR stopped by this week to pick up some lumber we saved from local film and theatre sets for a second life in a community enriching and environment focused project in Smith Memorial Playground, located in Fairmount Park.
Public Workshop, the Delaware Valley Green Building Council, and youth from the surrounding community are building the sustainable “adventure playground” with “islands” that encourage kids to build and make with recycled materials. The playground was selected by DVGBC as their Legacy Project for the 2013 U.S. Green Building Council Greenbuild Conference which takes place here in Philly this fall.
We can’t wait to see how the project develops (and thanks Fern for thinking of The Resource Exchange!)
