Have you seen the June exhibit in our reCreate Gallery yet? Emily Hirshorn’s reMade “New Life” quilts and potholders are giving the workshop space quite a fun and colorful splash! We had many guests stop by on First Friday to get a first look at her work.

Emily creates these amazing quilts out of otherwise hard to use scrap fabric pieces. She is especially fond of The Resource Exchange’s $1/ lb bins, where she can get the odd pieces at an extremely affordable price and give them new lives. Emily says, “I like to use fabrics that have already lived one life. Perhaps as childhood sheets or a mother’s blouse. Or maybe as a holiday table cloth or apron. These fabrics have stories to tell and I hate to see those stories thrown away.”

Take a look at Emily’s work in our gallery- it will only be up for another week! Or visit her Etsy site!
