Victoria Blithe is a Philadelphia-based photographer whose studio is in the nearby Paper Box Studios. She writes, “Surrealism and conceptualism are at the heart of what I love to do in photography.” Victoria’s conceptual and fashion portraiture often feature creative costumes, make-up, body embellishments, props and backdrops and she recently visited The Resource Exchange looking for materials to use in her photo shoots. She sent us this picture, which uses as a backdrop one of the giant pink umbrellas that we salvaged from the Philadelphia Flower Show! Our collaboration with The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society, began at the end of the 2013 Philadelphia Flower Show when representatives from PHS met with our Executive Director Karyn Gerred to talk about sustainability and saving material from the show. The two giant umbrellas were the first things we saved from the show and we’re excited to get a glimpse of this one getting creatively repurposed!
