Sam’s remade skirt and shirt!

unnamedSam Wittchen comes into The Resource Exchange a lot, always looking for the right fabrics for her latest sewing endeavor. Most recently, Sam purchased some salvaged fabric to make both the skirt and the shirt pictured here! The coral skirt is made from 100% cotton fabric (of which we have many different colors and many rolls!) All of this particular fabric was recently donated by an interior design company.

unnamed-1The shirt has a funny story, though. Sam had originally bought the white fabric, intending to make the shirt entirely white, but she didn’t get enough material, and when she came back to the store we didn’t have any left! So instead of getting new fabric to make the whole shirt, Sam picked up a small piece of white and blue striped material and made the bottom half different from the top half. Now that’s Resourceful (and it looks really cute!)

Sam was one of our reCreate Featured Artists in 2013, you can find out more about her and see other examples of her work made with reclaimed materials on her Featured Artist Page. Want to learn how to pattern your own clothing from reclaimed materials like Sam?
