About a year ago when The Resource Exchange moved to it’s new location, I bought some great 100% wool yarn. I had no idea what I was going to make with it, but $2 for a spool of wool yarn was too good to pass up.
Like all materials at The Resource Exchange, the yarn came with it’s own back story. The yarn was initially spun and sold to a carpet factory in Langhorne. Unfortunately the factory had a fire and was left trying to save their good yarn from landfill. Of course this is where The Resource Exchange comes in. The Resource Exchange hauled contractor bags full of yarn back to its new location.
Now a year later, I finally figured out what to make with the yarn: GLOVES!
I was a little hesitant when I started making the gloves with the carpet wool because I thought they might be itchy. In reality though, they are actually quite comfortable and warm. You really can’t beat 100% wool because it’s so insulating and it’s great at wicking away moisture.
*** I also crocheted the gloves with a crochet hook that I carved. I got the idea to carve my own hook from a workshop at the Resource Exchange with Scott Bickmore. RE’s not only full of great materials but great ideas too!
