The Resource Exchange saves all kinds of things from landfill, from large, hand crafted scenery pieces, to tiny craft items. Some of the tiniest things we always have are buttons! There are hundreds of buttons in the store and it’s always neat to see how our creative customers reuse them.
Like local educator Brieon Levin Jackson, who reuses buttons in her classroom.
“My class of three and four year olds love beads. I’ve never had a class that was so content to sit and string beads onto pipe cleaners. It’s a great fine motor skill activity for their little fingers as well as working their imaginations as they create necklaces, bracelets, crowns, and even insects. As the contents of my bead container dwindled, I thought of filling it with buttons. I’ve made several trips to the Resource Exchange for buttons and the kids are always excited to see what I bring back for them. I love seeing the creations they make with their beads and buttons.”
