“Second Nature: Junk Rethunk” at the Philadelphia Zoo

To see some wild examples of artists working with reclaimed materials, get yourself over to the Philadelphia Zoo, where their sculpture exhibition “Second Nature:  Junk Rethunk” is on display until October.  Second Nature features “an array of artist installations, some larger than life, each one telling stories of endangered animals through the use of recycled, reduced, reused, repurposed and renewed materials.” The exhibition speaks to why we all reduce and recycle to save energy and save wildlife. Picture a 13 ft gorilla made entirely from old car parts, a life size rhinoceros made out of serving trays and an alligator made from chewing gum! Better yet, go see it for yourself… and perhaps get inspired to do some reclaimed material art of your own!
