Olney Charter School + The Resource Exchange

Creative Drama teacher at Olney Charter School, Emily Guck, contacted The Resource Exchange for help with building a new studio theatre space at her school. She was looking to make the raised stage, and we happened to have just the right reclaimed materials for her! A while ago, the re team saved some stage platforms from the set of a major motion picture and we held onto them for a while (they even made it through the move!) because we knew that someone would finda good reuse for them. Now the platforms make up the stage at Olney Charter School, and they built it in time for their first ever evening of plays! Here’s the theatre space before the build:

Emily says, “Our Evening of One Acts (featuring ‘Selfie’ by Bradley Hayward and a one act version of ‘Arsenic and Old Lace’ by Joseph Kesselring) was our first production since the school became a charter in 2011. We had a great turn out, and actors and audience alike had a wonderful time. Students and staff are already asking when the next production will take place! Looking forward to partnering with The Resource Exchange as our drama department expands!”
