Recently, team members of the local organization HelpHOPELive came in to The Resource Exchange to get some reclaimed fabrics for a very important event, National Donate Life Blue and Green Day! HelpHopeLive is a national nonprofit with a mission to support community-based fundraising for people with unmet medical and related expenses due to cell and organ transplants or catastrophic injuries and illnesses. They bring communities together in tax-exempt fundraising efforts to help patients and families pay medical bills and access treatments.
During Donate Life Blue and Green Day, the public is encouraged to wear blue and green and hold events and fundraisers, and partner with community organizations in an effort to promote the success of organ, eye and tissue transplantation and the extreme need for registered donors.
For this year’s event, HelpHOPELive celebrated Donate Life Blue & Green Day with the message, “Organ donors are superheroes!” They creatively reused fabrics found here at the re to make fun masks and capes!
We are really happy to be able to provide discounted materials saved from landfill to such amazing organizations as HelpHOPELive and support one another as a community. For more information about their organization and to see more photos of them on National Donate Life Blue and Green Day, check out their website and facebook page.
