Greenfield Collective member Sara Outing (bottom row, center left) is a freelance set & prop designer who has worked for several local theaters including Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia Young Playwrights, EgoPo Classic Theatre, and UPenn Theatre Arts. She is a regular customer, and gets many of her props and design materials reclaimed from re, most recently for their production of The Magnus Effect.
“One part play, one part dance and one part airline jingle, The Magnus Effect is a gutsy new production from the Greenfield Collective, written by Hannah Van Sciver and directed by David O’Connor. It is an exploration of how and why we’ve come to dread the world around us.”
For the play, Sara used faux autumn leaves that had been donated to re from a local commercial shoot. She also used framed plexiglass as on overhead lightbox to light the set.
We love when local theater productions are able to find what they need here at re and support our mission of creative reuse!
Catch The Magnus Effect this week, July 21-24, 8pm, at Vox Populi Gallery, 319 N. 11th Street, 3rd floor. Invite your friends on facebook here!
