A Classroom Takes on the Whole World!

felt-world-map-3Many of our regular customers are teachers because we’re always stocked with low-cost art and office supplies. Recently a local teachers bought tons of felt pieces (sold here at The Resource Exchange for just 25¢ per square foot!) for a class geography project. She made the project at home (with the help of her cat!) and brought them into school for class.

Jara used the felt to make “Earth Lap Boards” that were like felt puzzles the students could use to help remember where the continents go on a map!
Here’s what she said about the project:

I cut out continents from the colors and big blue squares for the “earth” background, and let them try to put them in the right spots on the “earth” after we learned the continents. We did it a few days in a row and it seemed really helpful! The special ed case manager for seventh grade said it was a particularly great idea for my kids who need extra support for learning because it appealed to multiple learning styles and was engaging. I was able to make a class set of sixteen (one per pair) earth lap boards for about $12. I look forward to using the resource exchange for future classroom projects!
