Peace Wall in Local Community Center made with Reclaimed Materials!

Cooks Who Care led the creation of a ‘Peace Wall’ at a Philly Art & Food Event last year. Built from salvaged foam core that the team picked up at The Resource Exchange and decorated by the local community, the wall is meant to celebrate the diversity of expression that makes Philly so special. The foam core that they used to make the wall was saved by the re team from the Democratic National Convention (read more about it here!) We’re glad to see these materials that were originally intended for a one-time event, reused in a local community project like this one!

The Peace Wall recently found its permanent home in Taller Puertoriqueño’s newly opened El Corazon Cultural Center.”Taller Puertorriqueño uses art to promote development within its community and the Latino Diaspora and build bridges to the Greater Philadelphia region.” The new center, which is located at 2600 N. 5th Street, operates as a community hub and gathering space and includes an exhibition gallery, classrooms, dance and theatre studios, an outdoor space and now, a peace wall made from materials diverted from landfill! Thanks for sharing, Cooks Who Care Team!
