FSS Theatre ‘Metamorphoses’ + Salvaged Scenery Columns

Friends Select School Theatre department’s latest production Metamorphoses is opening this weekend and features two major set pieces from the re! Metamorphoses is based on the myths of Ovid, originally written and directed by Mary Zimmerman.

Max Budnick, FSS Technical Theatre Director, found these salvaged scenery columns and we think they were the perfect addition for the mythological narrative!  The FSS Theatre department gave our salvaged columns a new life with just a fresh coat of gold paint! It is great to see when local schools and educators incorporate reuse and resource conservation into their curriculums.

“At every age, students visit museums, attend cultural events, participate in community service, and use the finest educational resources Philadelphia has to offer. Through interaction with the real world, students become resourceful learners and active citizens of our school, city, and global community.”

These columns were saved from the set of a major motion picture. Check out these photos from when the re staff originally loaded them into our old location!

Thank you so much to FSS Theatre for sharing theses photos and their story of creative reuse! Don’t miss their production of Metamorphoses this weekend November 15th-16th at the Blauvelt Theatre.
