Turning Lemons into Lemonade with Creative Reuse!

2020 has been a difficult year in many ways, but what we miss most of all have been our visits from local educators, students, summer camps, daycare kiddos, and all of you!

Christine Cleaver, professor at Temple University’s School of Sport, Tourism and Hospitality Management, shared this sweet creative reuse project with us– including all of our favorite elements for any project: reuse, upcycling, & horticulture!

This project was…
1 part reclaimed mosaic materials
2 parts vintage planter pots in need of some TLC
1 part lemon seeds
& many parts water, soil, sunshine, and patience!

Prior to COVID-19, Christine and her students from the Sustainable Event Management Course were regular visitors at our creative reuse center. Students were assigned “The Repurpose Project” and asked to create an adaptive reuse project for an event using reclaimed materials they found at The Resource Exchange.

Read more about “The Repurpose Project” in our blog post from May 2018.

Once the pandemic is behind us, we can’t wait to welcome you all back into our reuse center, workshop, and art gallery space again. In the meantime, we’re sincerely grateful to keep in touch and continue to share your inspiring projects here on our blog, Facebook, & Instagram.

Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and healthy new year!
