Sustainable Theatre: WYCK LIVE!

The Resource Exchange works to divert reusable materials away from local landfills providing inspiration and opportunity for our creative community to reuse them in their own inspiring projects.

WYCK LIVE! was an immersive theatrical event that took place at Wyck Historic House, Garden and Farm in Germantown on August 21st. The experience combined elements of theatre, dance, live music, and visual art where the audience encountered characters and installations throughout the beautiful grounds.  Created by theatre artists, Kyle Metzger and Ryan Pater, this production was inspired by history, nature, and a joyful sense of wonder.

Rather than purchasing brand new supplies, these creators came to The Resource Exchange to source sustainable reclaimed materials. “The Creature”, performed by Sasha Kostyrko, was created using sheer fabric, lace, cork, utensils, and protractors sourced entirely from The Resource Exchange.

The Creature was created by Meagan Kimberly Smith, Ryan Pater, Kyle Metzger, and Richie Wilde Lopez.

Wyck Live! also featured a yarn sculpture by Richie Wilde Lopez titled “All Entwined”.  The piece was made using reclaimed yarn, wire mesh, and a wooden frame from The Resource Exchange.
