Texture, tactile or implied, is a fun technique to explore in painting and other art forms, including drawing, fiber and paper arts. These works of art were painted at DePaul Catholic School, in Germantown, by Erin Kelly’s 2nd through 8th grade students. The students were able to freely explore different techniques to add texture to their artwork by reusing a few simple materials diverted from landfill.
“I made 50+ stamps from corks, foam shapes that another teacher was throwing out and a hot glue gun.
The project was introducing texture in art. The first day they used plastic texture sheets under the white paper and crayons. The second day they used black and white paint and the stamps. It was messy but worth it.
I think the cost was under $10. Thanks Resource Exchange!“
