Sustainable Productions: Sunday in the Park with George at Villanova Theatre

Villanova Theatre is a community of artist-scholars committed to transforming hearts and minds through the visionary production of classical, modern, and contemporary dramatic literature. As a facet of Villanova University, Villanova Theatre serves the campus community as well as thousands of theatre-goers from the Main Line and the Greater Philadelphia area.

Their latest production, Sunday in the Park with George, is a musical written by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine that was inspired by the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat. The Villanova Theatre production team came to The Resource Exchange, and left with some extra large muslin, which we had sourced from a TV production, diverting it from the landfills to have available in our store. We are so excited to see these work-in-progess photos of how the production is re-using these materials, and how they are bringing the world of this iconic painting to life!

You can see Sunday in the Park with George from April 13th – April 23rd at Villanova University, and learn more about this production by visiting http://villanovatheatre.org/sunday/.
