Andrea Arts is an interdisciplinary artist making objects out of second hand materials. Drawn towards tactile experience, her practice explores intimacy through material qualities. Making objects grounded in functionality, she is moved by the relationships between maker, object, and user and is considering how handmade objects interact with and create meaning in the everyday. Her motifs are informed by paying attention to small day-to-day moments: a conversation with a friend, a fleeting thought or feeling, or shapes and details observed while moving through the world.
Andrea received her BA in studio art from the College of Wooster in 2020 and was a post-baccalaureate resident at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts from 2020-2021. She grew up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and currently lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
