Caroline Yang

“I am an educator, painter, and crocheter working on tapestries. I work mainly in thrifted, secondhand, and scrap yarns to create whimsical collages. Using freehand crochet techniques and variations on the granny square, my work experiments with color, texture, and motif. The subject of my work is recovering childhood and memory through a slow process of mismatch and improvisation. I am inspired by the works of Ursula K. Le Guin, the outsider art movement, Studio Ghibli, and my grandmother.”
