Emily Arin Snider

In a world defined by the tension of opposites, I love exploring the space that holds both sides in ‘yes-and’ harmony—the beautiful and the painful; the light and the dark; the dazzling and the mundane. In my painting practice, this shows up as natural forms suspended in intangible substance—the visual world infused with invisible force. On some level, I am always wondering about where the material ends and the subtle begins; about what keeps the green leaves unfurling, the tides turning and the blood coursing in our veins. Regarding re-use and sustainability, each new painting uses collage cutouts from a former painting’s palette paper.
