Green Mandy

It’s been estimated that 11.3 MILLION TONS of textiles ended up in our landfills (EPA 2018) and only 5% of the 51 million tons of plastics used in 2021 were recycled (Greenpeace). After seeing videos of plastic waste on the shore, I was compelled to change my life to be more sustainable. It was important that my business be as well. Every scrap of fabric & thread is reused or recycled and will stay out of a landfill. I reuse my scraps to make smaller and smaller creations, including using scraps of fabric and thread as filling.

The single greenest thing you can do? Use what you’ve got. And what I have is a lot of vintage fabric that my great uncle got from a local knitting mill in the 1970’s. Most of my bags are made using these awesome fabrics. I also thrift and use fabric samples & factory seconds from the design & fashion industries.

I am the owner, designer & maker at Green Mandy and I live in NJ with my husband and two wild children. For 10 years I worked as an architect in Philadelphia and stayed home with my kids for 7. Now I’m fulfilling my life long dream of having my own “Shop Around the Corner”.
