Kirsten Cunningham

My work explores diversity in all its forms; including our individual personalities. Charcoal/pastels are among my specialties. I often use fabric scraps in my work and recycled materials as my art surfaces. This is my way of taking something seen as “unwanted” and turning it into something unique and beautiful. For me, this symbolizes that we are “enough” even with our flaws and differences. We should embrace our weirdness and know that it’s ok to feel lost. This honesty is what frees us from the limits created by the world. My work also reflects my own struggles and pursuit of self-acceptance in a world full of harsh judgement, and how it has inspired me to help others feel understood.
