I use foraged plant materials to create fanciful and evocative sculpture.
Materials are collected, cleaned and air dried to protect them from decay.
The addition of nonacid fibrous paper and glue protects and strengthens them.
When I started working with foraged plant materials my goal was to create work I could use as a teaching artist.
Using these plants as art material allowed me to interweave art projects with discussions of the environment, history, culture and ecology.
