My name is Margie Ricchezza, I have a BFA from Tyler School of Art in Fibers and Materials. I have been painting and illustrating but fiber art has my focus. Starting out with the remaining yarn skeins that were left by my mother and her’s, I have played with knitting and macrame since I was a kid. Most of the material I was exploring with were remnants of projects from my mothers and grandmother’s past. I found out soon how yarn is not like clay or cookie dough, where you can cut out your shape and then re-mold it. Seeing the amount of scrap left by my family who held onto them from fear of wasting them, I quickly became resourceful. From that generate more interest into processes like naturally dying and scrap quilting. I suddenly became more and more interested in not just dying my own fabric but also growing the pigments to use.
