I create intuitive, abstract works, including bright, contrasting colors and shapes that tickle your brain. My works aim to inspire wonder for both the natural world —dead tree branches, alien-like funghi—and also the gemütlichkeit—roughly, “coziness”—that a home space can provide.
I am inspired by the objects and organisms I see every day, and the questions they invoke. Why do we pretty universally swoon over a good sunset, or cherish that one couch pillow? Why is the classic shape of a five-sided house so comforting, and the bright green of new leaves against a blue sky so energizing? I aim to capture these moments and wonders through use of mixed media on paper and canvas, as well as punch needle on monks cloth.
