Wendi Furman

“I am a textile and mixed media artist based in Philadelphia. My work is influenced by diverse textile traditions including American Crazy Quilts, Japanese Boro, Indian Kantha, narrative tapestries and simple mending techniques. 90% of my materials are reclaimed, reused or rescued from vintage or non-recyclable sources. I strive to not only reclaim materials that would otherwise end up in landfills or oceans, but to reclaim art forms that have historically been denigrated as “women’s work” and elevate them to their deserved place in the art world.”
