Resource Exchange customer Meghan is also a hiker of the Appalachian Trail! When Meghan was gearing up for the annual festival Trail Days in Damascus, Virginia, she came into our store looking for creative and reused materials to make something special to bring with her to the festival. She left with fabric, craft floss, and the goal of making patches for the fellow trail walkers she would see at the festival. Meghan says,
Trails Days is a chance for current hikers to get free food and showers and meet up with hikers they’ve met earlier on the trail and also for previous hikers to come back and have a big reunion with the people that shared their adventure! I decided this a perfect opportunity to make these patches to sell to hundreds of hikers that would be at the festival and to trade with other hiker artists who were selling things like necklaces and photography from the trail. I sold all of them and will hopefully continue making the patches and going back each year.
