On March 7th we participated in “Mini-Golf Madness” — a fun-filled collaboration by local associations and businesses that brought community members together to support Fishtown Playschool and the Kensington Community Food Co-op. Fishtown Playschool is a parent organized, parent led structured playgroup for children ages 2.5 to PreK. Mini-golf Madness served as a voter drive to help win an Imagination Playground. Have kids? Find out more about FPS here! KCFC is a member-owned cooperative grocery store in the Kensington area of Philadelphia with a mission “to provide healthy, quality food, products and services to members and the community.” The event helped get out the word about the Co-op, build membership, and raise funds for opening a brick-and-mortar store in the near future! Our neighbors Keystone Mini-Golf and Arcade provided the venue (and games!) and Philly Homebrew provided the delicious brew. The re was invited to provide a kids activity, and we couldn’t pass up an opportunity to support these two great neighborhood organizations while promoting reuse with a reclaimed materials-based art activity!
The kids “filled” cardboard grocery carts with images of their favorite foods cut from reclaimed clip-art binders that were recently donated. We also provided some hand-made reclaimed fabric bean bags in the shape of fruits and vegetables for a more custom themed bean bag toss game!
