From Park to Park -Theater Props Becomes Volunteer Board!

Prop shields made for a “Shakespeare in Clark Park” production have found new life as a volunteer board in Pennypack Park! Emma Schad, Stewardship Coordinator for Philadelphia Parks & Recreation, recently came into The Resource Exchange and got reclaimed materials to make a sign for a regular volunteer opportunity that she hosts at Pennypack Park. She was able to find the luan “shield” pieces, some scrap lumber, and a white board/ cork board to make the perfect station to share all the information potential volunteers need to know.

“I brought our new sign out on April 1st. I love the whiteboard/bulletin board combo. I was able to list out our tasks for the day so any passerby could see what we were up to and tack up a poem of the day. The other side has an envelope for info and printouts and our contact info.”

Restoration Volunteer Workdays in Pennypack Park happen every first saturday of the month from 10-1pm. You can join restoration volunteers and get out into the park to do a variety of much needed restoration tasks. Work varies month to month and may include trail work, removing invasive species, planting natives, and on! Tools and supplies are provided. Any and all welcome! Call the Pennypack Park line for meet-up location: 215-934-7275.
