Sustainably Made: Velvet Visions

Here at The Resource Exchange, sharing customer projects is one of our most valued means of engagement with the community. Seeing where our materials are going and how they’re being used drives us further in our mission of diverting valuable materials from landfill and putting them back into the hands of local collectors and creators!

As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure – and we’re stock full of treasures! Check out these awesome customer projects using velvet remnants by local designer Kevin O’Brien!

Rebecca’s Velvet Pojagi Curtain

RE customer Rebecca Hinch created this beautiful patchwork curtain — inspired by the Korean pojagi/jogakbo method!

Just look at how the light passes through! Thank you to Rebecca for sharing this lovely project with us 💚

Kris’ Dreamy Velvet Floor Cushions

“I made these tufted floor cushions using velvet and felt from The Resource Exchange and foam sourced from Rabbit Recycling. The locally produced velvet from Kevin O’Brien Studio was the inspiration for the project!”

Thank you Kris!! 💚

And last, but most certainly not least –

Mary Glenn’s Velvet Kimono

This stunning piece was designed and pieced together by local maker Mary Glenn, and we’re so happy to have it shared with us!

Thank you to all of our customers for helping us spread the word on sustainability, upcycling, and the importance of diverting such valuable materials from landfill. We couldn’t do what we do without your constant participation and support!

♻️ What will YOU make today?! ♻️
